When can I start seeing you?

Update as of 4/25: Accepting several New Clients and am continuing to prioritize accepting BIPOC and LGBTQ+ folks due to ongoing marginalization and trauma that our communities are experiencing.

Usually, I can get new clients in for a first session within one to two business weeks, depending on your availability.

When are your office hours?

As of 4/25, my office hours are currently:

Tuesdays (in person), Wednesdays, and Thursdays, with session start times from 9am to 3pm. Intake sessions may occur any of those days at either 11am or 3pm.

I am available for in person sessions on Tuesdays in my Kent office. The rest of the month, I will continue to meet virtually via Telehealth using a HIPAA compliant and completely free platform, Doxy.me.

How do I pay for services?

I am able to accept many insurances as an in network provider as well as some out of network. If your insurance doesn't provide coverage, don't worry! Folks can also pay for services out of pocket. Please email me for a list of current rates.

The insurance companies I am currently an in network provider with are:

ACI EAP

Aetna

Anthem

Blue Cross Blue Shield

Beacon Health

Cigna & Cigna EAP

Delta

First Choice Health Network

GEHA

Kaiser PPO/Access (not HMO)

Premera

Regence

United Healthcare (Commercial, not Apple Health or Medicaid)

Wellspring EAP

Is your insurance not listed here? Insurances are complex creatures! I may take an insurance that's not listed here, if it's housed under a larger network that I am in (ie: because I am approved to take Aetna, I can take GEHA, too!). I know, it's complicated and can get really frustrating.

That's why I have a billing specialist team! If you want to find out for sure if your sessions are covered, I recommend contacting your insurance directly to make sure your coverage includes mental health. Then, if you'd like a cost estimate, you can reach out to my billing specialist team who are happy to provide an estimate of costs for sessions with me. Just let me know!

Do you offer sliding scale fees?

Yes! It is important to me that everyone has access to mental healthcare. For that reason, I do have a sliding fee scale in place for folks who would otherwise be unable to see me. I am now offering unlimited sliding fee slots on my caseload to increase access to those needing multiculturally competent therapeutic services.

I use my sliding scale on a case by case basis and with the understanding that if and when their financial situation changes, the client shifts to paying full service fees to enable the sliding fee slot to open for another client. And of course, if that person becomes insured at any time, we can switch over to billing insurance!

As of 4/25: I have expanded the number of clients I am able to accept using Sliding Fee Scale. However, I am not currently able to work with clients pro bono at this time. Please contact me to request my current sliding scale.

Do you only work with minorities?

Technically, no. I do occasionally work with White, Cisgendered, Heterosexual Men and Women, especially if they're referred to me by their insurance company. Often, after reading my Psychology Today profile and website, folks will pursue a different, more standard or conservative provider than myself. However, if you find you are like minded and interested in having a liberal provider who incorporates an understanding of oppression with clients, please don't hesitate to contact me even if you don't have many/any minority statuses.

What is with that business name?

I know, I know. It's a mouthful. Guided Metamorphosis Counseling Services. I've been asked, especially by other business owners, why I would choose such a long name that is hard for some people to say?

I chose this name because guiding clients through their own metamorphosis is what I am passionate about doing as a counselor. You don't need one more person telling you their opinion, what to do, or what's right. Though, admittedly, sometimes we may wish someone could tell us the right thing to do, it's ultimately up to us to decide. Rather than force my will or beliefs on someone, I want to support them in figuring out their own so they can undergo a guided metamorphosis and flourish in the life they create for themselves.

What are your Big Three?

I know it's a stereotype of being in the Queer community, but hey, many of us LOVE astrology and use it as short hand to get to know someone. It helps us feel connected. I get it. And, if you know you naturally work best (or not at all) with certain signs, why not ask?

I will risk your pre-judgment; here it is.

Sun: Aries

Moon: Virgo

Ascending: Virgo

I'm also a Dragon on the Chinese Zodiac, a Celtic Fox on the Celtic Zodiac, and a LITERAL T REX on Primal Astrology. Which I don't really know if it's a thing, but years ago I found it and how can I not claim T Rex energy? Always a Jurassic Kid at heart (https://www.primalastrology.com/animal-spirit-chart.html).

Oh and if you're into the Enneagram, I'm a Body Type, Number 8, known as: the Protector, the Leader, and the Challenger.
